Scavengers Frontier is a game played outdoors, on real streets and trails, using hunts that other players make. These terms explain what we provide, what we don't, and what you agree to when you play or create.
1. We provide software, not hunts
Scavengers Frontier ("we", "us") provides an app in which players create and play scavenger hunts. Every hunt, checkpoint, clue and photo is made by a player, not by us. We do not scout, inspect, verify, approve, certify or endorse any hunt or route.
2. Community reports are unverified
Players can report a problem with a hunt, and creators can add a heads-up about their hunt. We show these as what they are: one person's word, unverified. The absence of a report is not a statement about a hunt. We may pause a hunt when several players report the same serious problem, and we may unpause it when the creator addresses it or the reports lapse.
3. You take on the risks of the activity
Playing means walking real routes in real conditions. You judge traffic, footing, weather, daylight, water, wildlife, your own fitness, and whether your phone has coverage. Before your first start the app shows a short set of trail rules and asks you to confirm you understand them; that confirmation records your agreement to this clause, and does not replace it. To the fullest extent the law allows, you assume the risks inherent in walking to and between checkpoints and release us from claims arising from those risks.
4. Obey the law, the signs and the property lines
You must obey laws, posted signs and property boundaries wherever a hunt takes you. No hunt ever requires entering private property; if a hunt seems to, don't enter, and report it. Never play while driving or cycling.
5. Creating hunts
When you publish a hunt you confirm that you have walked the route, that it can be completed lawfully on publicly accessible land or with permission, and that you have answered the heads-up question honestly. You are responsible for the hunts you publish and agree to indemnify us against claims that arise from them. We may pause, hide or remove any hunt at any time.
6. Age
You must be at least 13 years old to use Scavengers Frontier. If you are under 18 you confirm that a parent or guardian has permitted your use and will supervise your play.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for injury, loss or damage arising from playing or creating hunts, from the conduct of other players, or from conditions at any location. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, if any. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
8. Records
We keep records of the acknowledgements you give before a start, of reports, and of your acceptance of these terms, for as long as they may be needed for legal claims. After you delete your account those records are kept in pseudonymised form. See the Privacy Policy.
9. Your account
You sign in with a Google account and are responsible for what happens under it. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, files reports in bad faith, or publishes hunts that put players in danger.
10. Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located there, unless the law where you live gives you rights that cannot be waived.
11. Changes
When we change these terms in a way that matters, the app will ask you to read and accept the new version before you continue. The version and effective date are shown at the top of this page.
